Here is the queen bee from our original bee hive. She is a big girl, even from this young age. She spends her days wandering around the bee hive laying eggs and instructing the worker bees on how the hive is to progress. She does this through pheromone secretions.

Below: This is what her work looks like. In some cells, such as lower right center, you can see the tiny rice like eggs laid at the base of the comb cell. Surrounding those are other cells with hatched larvae. All extremely young.

Below: Before long, the larvae has grown in size and are then encased in their cell by the nursery bees. They will hatch from these brood capping as fully grown bees.

I’ve been lucky enough to have had the chance to capture a few wild hives. Below is a photo I took of the queen of a new swarm I captured.
