Thrombolites of Lake Clifton

Lake Clifton, apart from being the locality in which I live, is home to structures called Thrombolites which are built by microbial life forms going back many thousands of years. It requires a perfect balance of chemical composition in the water of the lake. It is thought that due to global warming, these will be under threat in the next century.
