It was a cool, overcast summer day when I climbed East Mt Barron.
Like all of the Fitzgerald River National Park the area is in bloom with many more varieties of flowers than you could reasonably be expected to count. The highlight for me is the Royal Hakea, pictured below.
Unlike other peaks that I have climbed, this is barely a peak at all. After an initial steep accent, you find a more moderate and long distance walk to what eventually comes to be the on the eastern side. The climb should be attempted only with proper footwear for climbing, as the slopes are made up of loose gravel and sand that can slip underneath you quite easily.
Once at the top the view of the surrounding national park is beautiful.
The texture in the many different rock formations are wonderful to observe and touch. There are sheer cliff faces and caves that are home to animals.
